I’m Sophie Day (DAIS), a young artist and professional cricketer based in Melbourne, and the founder of By DAIS — a project born from the intersection of sport, art, and storytelling. As a professional athlete, I’ve spent years in a high-performance environment built on discipline and routine. But alongside that, I’ve always needed a space for vulnerability, creativity, and expression. I studied Fine Arts at The University of Melbourne’s Victorian College of the Arts, where I had the privilege of learning from some of the city’s most respected visual artists. Since then, I’ve been honoured to receive several emerging artist awards, exhibit work across Victoria, and complete commissioned paintings for individuals and organisations alike. My practice is grounded in acrylic on canvas and paper — often on a large scale — with a style that’s bold, symbolic, and expressive. I also experiment across mediums to push the emotional range of my work. Art allows me to reflect on place, movement, and emotion, and it's a crucial outlet that keeps me grounded and connected — especially in the intense world of elite sport. By DAIS is where all of this meets. It’s not just a brand — it’s my studio, my sanctuary, and my way of sharing what I see and feel. Every hoodie and print is based on real emotion: moments of stillness, strength, doubt, and transformation. The brand lives in the space between confidence and vulnerability — a reminder that showing up honestly is powerful. Beyond the printed pieces, I also create original artworks by commission and love collaborating with people and organisations who want to bring more art into their lives. Whether it’s a personal piece or something bigger, I’m always open to new conversations and creative opportunities. By DAIS is about showing up — fully, creatively, unapologetically.
