Sometimes sessions are long and repetitive, but in the excitement of training and playing there is a sense of joy as this can be reflected in the scoring. Crowds flock to the stands, with sole focus on that first centre bounce. The amphitheatre hosts a sea of colour, noise, and passion. The crowd is a microcosm of this city, diverse in background but united by the colour of their scarves. Melbourne stops for the Grand Final. $1,850

Numbers matter. OUT ends your play, your dreams of a triumphant walk. Now the long trudge back to the stand when you feel you have let yourself and your team down. There is a blackness. Colours are dulled. Even the greens lose vibrancy. The spectators are a mass of critical individuals against a dark wall of disappointment. Like winning, losing, and your sense of underachievement are part of the game. The painting still keeps you looking and discovering new elements - much like the game.
